Counselling
The reasons people come to counselling are as varied as people themselves. It could be coping with anxiety or depression, going through a major life transition, trying to move past a traumatic experience, wanting to challenge unhelpful patterns/ behaviours, improve a key relationship in their life, or variety of other concerns. Regardless of the reason, our Counsellors will work with you to address whatever it is that you are struggling with. Together you will decide what course of action is going to be the most helpful given your specific circumstances, strengths, and needs.
Counselling can be an emotional process and you may go through periods of discomfort before you feel better. Your counsellor is there to offer you a non-judgemental and supportive environment to openly address your concerns and they will walk alongside you no matter what curves may lie ahead. Reaching out for help can be simultaneously one of the hardest and bravest things that you can do for yourself when life is difficult.
Individual
Private one on one counselling sessions are available for youth and adults. Individual counselling sessions are normally 55 minutes long. Rebekkah draws on a number of therapeutic approaches, both cognitive and expressive in nature. If there is a particular approach that you are looking for, please contact her directly.
Couple and Family
Looking to work through relationship challenges with those closest to you? Couple and family sessions are available and are regularly 80 minutes long. Clients coming for couple or family counselling will usually attend together; however, they may attend some sessions individually as well.
Group
Groups are available to address a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, and trauma. Each group varies; however, most group sessions are approximately 2 hours long on a weekly basis over a period of 6 or 8 weeks. The groups are comprised of psycho-educational, experiential, and processing components. Trauma focused groups (e.g. Sexual Assault Resiliency groups) run for 10 to 12 weeks and involve elements of skill development as well as psycho-education and processing.
Groups can be a powerful tool in healing. We can all learn from each other and Rebekkah is a strong advocate for the benefits of group therapy to address certain types of concerns.
Please contact Rebekkah directly for further information regarding the topics and availability of specific groups.
Consultation
As finding the right counsellor is an essential component of successful therapy, Rebekkah offers any new client the opportunity to book a free consultation. Consultations last approximately 15-20 minutes and can be done either in-person or over the phone. This is not a counselling session but rather an opportunity to get to know Rebekkah, ask questions, and speak with her about what it is you are looking for in a counsellor.
